EMBEDDED SYSTEMS FOR NEXT-GENERATION AUTONOMOUS MACHINES
NVIDIA Jetson: The AI platform for autonomous everything
NVIDIA Jetson systems provide the performance and power efficiency to run autonomous machines software, faster and with less power. Each is a complete System-on-Module (SOM), with CPU, GPU, PMIC, DRAM, and flash storage—saving development time and money. Jetson is also extensible. Just select the SOM that’s right for the application, and build the custom system around it to meet its specific needs.
SCALABLE, FLEXIBLE HARDWARE SOLUTIONS
Whether for enterprise, small to medium business, or research, the Jetson family of modules has a solution to meet specific performance and budget needs. They all share the same architecture and SDKs, allowing for one code base and seamless deployment across the entire product portfolio.
Jetson modules power a range of applications that require various performance levels and prices—from AI-powered Network Video Recorders (NVRs) to automated optical inspection (AOI) in high-precision manufacturing to autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). Jetson modules pack unbeatable performance and energy efficiency in a tiny form factor, effectively bringing the power of modern AI, deep learning, and inference to embedded systems at the edge.
Jetson Nano
The Jetson Nano module is a small AI computer that has the performance and power efficiency needed to run modern AI workloads, multiple neural networks in parallel and process data from several high-resolution sensors simultaneously. This makes it the perfect entry-level option to add advanced AI to embedded products.
Jetson TX2 Series
The Jetson TX2 series embedded module for edge AI applications now comes in three versions: Jetson TX2, Jetson TX2i, and the newly available, lower-cost Jetson TX2 4GB. Jetson TX1-based products can migrate to the more powerful Jetson TX2 4GB at the same price.
Jetson Xavier NX
Jetson Xavier NX brings up to 21 TOPs of accelerated AI computing to the edge in a small form factor module. It can run multiple modern neural networks in parallel and process data from multiple high-resolution sensors—a requirement for full AI systems. Jetson Xavier NX is production-ready and supports all popular AI frameworks.
Jetson AGX Xavier
Jetson AGX Xavier is the first computer designed specifically for autonomous machines. It has six Engines onboard for accelerated sensors data processing and running autonomous machines software, and offers the performance and power efficiency for fully autonomous machines.
A SINGLE, UNIFIED SOFTWARE STACK
All three generations of Jetson solutions are supported by the same software stack, enabling companies to develop once and deploy everywhere. The Jetson platform is supported by the JetPack SDK, which includes the board support package (BSP), Linux operating system, NVIDIA CUDA®, and compatibility with third-party platforms. DeepStream SDK enables developers to quickly build and deploy efficient video analytics pipelines on Jetson.
JetPack comes with libraries for deep learning, computer vision, accelerated computing, and multimedia and supports drivers for a wide range of sensors. Plus, NVIDIA develops GPU-accelerated IP for critical autonomous machine tasks like depth estimation, path planning, and object detection.
FreeRTOS
Real-time operating system for microcontrollers
FreeRTOS is an open source, real-time operating system for microcontrollers that makes small, low-power edge devices easy to program, deploy, secure, connect, and manage. Distributed freely under the MIT open source license, FreeRTOS includes a kernel and a growing set of software libraries suitable for use across industry sectors and applications. This includes securely connecting your small, low-power devices to AWS cloud services like AWS IoT Core or to more powerful edge devices running AWS IoT Greengrass. FreeRTOS is built with an emphasis on reliability and ease of use.
A microcontroller contains a simple, resource-constrained processor that can be found in many devices, including appliances, sensors, fitness trackers, industrial automation, and automobiles. Many of these small devices can benefit from connecting to the cloud or locally to other devices, but have limited compute power and memory capacity and typically perform simple, functional tasks.
Microcontrollers frequently run operating systems that may not have built-in functionality to connect to local networks or the cloud, making IoT applications a challenge. FreeRTOS helps solve this problem by providing the kernel to run low-power devices as well as software libraries that make it easy to securely connect to the cloud or other edge devices, so you can collect data from them for IoT applications and take action.
Open source
FreeRTOS is released under the MIT open source license, a permissive license with limited restrictions on reuse. To learn more about the FreeRTOS open source community, please click here.
Trusted kernel
The FreeRTOS kernel is trusted by world-leading companies as the de facto standard for microcontrollers and small microprocessors with proven robustness, tiny footprint, and wide device support.
Accelerate time to market
FreeRTOS includes IoT reference integrations, which are pre-integrated FreeRTOS projects ported to microcontroller-based evaluation boards that demonstrate end to end connectivity to the cloud, and pre-configured demos that can help you quickly get started with a project. You can instantly download code and compile to accelerate time to market.
Securely connect, program, deploy, and manage low-power devices
FreeRTOS includes support for Transport Layer Security (TLS v1.2) to help your devices connect securely to AWS. You can also easily program commonly needed IoT capabilities into your device, including software libraries that help configure devices to a local network using common connectivity options like Wi-Fi or Ethernet, or connect to a mobile device using Bluetooth Low Energy. FreeRTOS also includes an over-the-air (OTA) update library to remotely update devices with feature enhancements or security patches and a code signing feature to ensure your device code is not compromised during deployment and OTA updates.
